Jersey Reds have added a further loan signing from Worcester Warriors to their squad ahead of their last three fixtures in this season’s Greene King IPA Championship.
Former England under 20 cap Joe Morris, who plays at tight-head prop, becomes the fourth Warrior to make the move to the Island on loan until the end of the current season.
Morris, who will be 23 on Saturday, has been part of the Warriors’ set-up since 2016, which was also the year he started a biomedical science degree at Oxford University. Prior to graduating three years later and signing his first pro contract at Worcester, he represented the Dark Blues in the Varsity Matches of 2016 and 2018.
As well as making appearances for the Warriors in the Gallagher Premiership and European Challenge Cup, Morris spent loan spells with Hartpury and Yorkshire Carnegie, and also spent time with Henley Hawks earlier in his career.
The new arrival joins Worcester colleagues James Scott, Matti Williams and Scott Van Breda, and will be in contention for the Reds’ remaining games, starting with Coventry’s visit to Stade Santander International on Saturday May 15th.
Director of rugby Harvey Biljon said he was pleased to be able to boost his front row options ahead of the final block of games.
“We’ve been fortunate enough to secure the services of a promising young player who will benefit from game-time in the Championship,’ he said. ‘It’s been an attritional campaign so far, and we have lost the services of Zei Alexis and Adam Nicol as a result of injuries, so Joe is arriving at an opportune time.”
