Scott van Breda will be with Jersey Reds for the remainder of the current season after agreeing an extended loan from Gallagher Premiership side Worcester Warriors.
The 29-year-old, who can play in most positions across the back-line and made the move from Jersey to Worcester in 2018, has been snapped up by Director of Rugby Harvey Biljon to bolster his options for the rest of the Greene King IPA Championship campaign.
Van Breda made the same loan move earlier this month, playing for Jersey against Saracens, and the arrangement has now been extended until the end of the season, with 'SVB' in contention for this weekend's trip to Bedford Blues.
'Scott is a proven operator who was a real asset during his season in Jersey, and he has slotted in comfortably in training this week,' Biljon said. 'He hasn't played much rugby recently and is hungry to get back on the field.'
Van Breda made 17 appearances for the Reds during the 2017/18 season, scoring 29 points, including four tries. This followed a move to Europe from his native South Africa, where he played for Eastern Province and Southern Kings, featuring in the Vodacom Cup, Currie Cup and Super Rugby.
Since his move to Worcester, van Breda has featured in both the European Challenge Cup and Gallagher Premiership, scoring three tries in a total of 18 appearances, as well as playing Guinness PRO14 rugby during short-term loan moves back to the Southern Kings.
Saturday’s game between Bedford Blues and Jersey Reds (k-o 1.30pm) will be streamed live, with access costing £10 per subscriber and available via www.championshiprugby.co.uk/live-streams
The Jersey Reds XXIII to take on the Blues will be officially confirmed at 12noon on Friday.
