Athletic, under newly appointed Head coach Myles 'Mylo' Landick are set to take on Guernsey 1st XV on 8th August in the first of their pre-season fixtures, away at Footes Lane.
The squad that had a get-together last night start their pre-season training next Tuesday at the club.
Mylo said, "It was of course really tough decision to have to retire from playing the game, but I remain really proud of what I achieved and am now relishing the challenge to work with the Athletic boys and to pass on some of my experiences to them. Securing this first pre-season against Guernsey will be a real test and one that everyone is looking forward to."
The Athletic are also set to play Blackheath 2nd XV on Saturday 22nd August before they start their season for real, competing in the Zoo Sports Shield merit table competition.
