It really was the proverbial game of two halves, and to come away with no points is a real disappointment.
Jersey had the better of the opposition in the first half, and although Yorkshire Carnegie were first on the score sheet with a long range penalty, it was the Jersey forwards who were to then take control. 3 tries followed and a decent 13-22 lead at half time.
The second half did not go to plan, and a disciplined display by a determined Carnegie side saw them take the lead late in the game with a converted try after Jersey were reduced to 14 men, with Gary Graham in the bin. They then rubbed salt into the wound with their fifth try of the afternoon in added-on time, and once the conversion went over the final whistle blew to see the hosts happy and relieved 39-22 victors.
