Jersey Reds have made a further move in the loan market, with Matti Williams moving to the Island on loan from Worcester Warriors for the remainder of the current season.
The 29-year-old back row player, born in East London in South Africa, has been with the Warriors since 2016, having formerly played for Northampton Saints and Sale Sharks.
Harvey Biljon, Director of Rugby, said he was pleased to be augmenting his squad ahead of the Reds facing their final seven games of the season in as many weeks once the Greene King IPA Championship resumes after Easter.
'Matti is an experienced operator who I believe will thrive in a new environment and I expect him to push hard for selection for our games in April,' he said.
The arrival of Williams comes as Kyle Hatherell makes the move in the opposite direction, having become the latest Jersey Reds' player to earn an opportunity at the top level.
With several injuries among his squad, Biljon said he is likely to be looking for further loan signings during the coming weeks.
The Reds' next outing will see them take on Doncaster Knights on Saturday April 10th. Originally scheduled as a home game, the match will be played at Castle Park in Doncaster (k-o 2.30pm) as a result of ongoing Covid-19 precautions in Jersey. The Reds' first outing at Stade Santander International is set for Saturday April 24th, with Nottingham the visitors.
