Jersey RFC have confirmed that lock forward James Voss will rejoin his home club ahead of the 2016/17 season.
Voss, 21, made his debut for Jersey as a 17-year-old in National One during 2011/12 and subsequently made around 30 appearances during the club's first two seasons in the Greene King IPA Championship.
After two seasons at Hartpury College, playing National One rugby for the college team and studying for a Foundation degree in Business Management, Voss is due to complete his studies next month and will then return to Jersey in time for pre-season training.
Head Coach Harvey Biljon was pleased to have lined up another member of his squad for next season.
"James showed he had potential as a Championship player when I first joined Jersey in 2014, and it was easy to forget he was still a teenager," he said.
"He's had the chance to experience life away from Jersey and develop both as a rugby player and personally, and I think he'll be a real asset to our squad. It's good for Jersey to have a local boy back in the squad, but James has earned this opportunity on merit, and I hope he makes the most of it."
Voss said that he was looking forward to pulling on a Jersey shirt again.
"I think the club has developed a great deal in the past two seasons, and I also believe that I have as well," he said. "It's been good to get off the Island and I've been able to mature as a person as well as working on my rugby.
"Now I'm really looking to kick on in my career and it's great to have the chance to do this with Jersey - there are some great players in the squad, and competition will be tough, but I will thrive on that and can't wait to get started."
This Saturday Voss and another graduate of the JRFC junior section, Harry Cochrane, will be seeking to help Hartpury confirm the runners-up spot in National One by taking maximum points in their final game of the season, at home to Hull Ionians.
Voss joins five other new signings previously announced by the Reds. Prop Mark Tampin, back row forward Max Argyle and centre Jordan Davies are moving to the Island from Rotherham Titans; centre George Eastwell, currently at Loughborough Students, has also agreed terms with Jersey, as has prop Jake Armstrong, who will be leaving Doncaster Knights following the Championship play-offs to move south. Further signings are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
