Under the lights at Shaws Bridge, it was Ulster 'A' that dug deep to shine through to secure the first win in Pool 1 over Jersey Reds.
The first half was evenly matched and after an earlier Ulster penalty, the Reds slotted two of their own to take the lead, but ultimately went in at half time trailing by 9-6.
In the second half Ulster scored the only try of the game and closed out the game to take the spoils.
The return match at St Peter is on Saturday 21st January, when the Reds will seek revenge in the same way that they did when the two sides last met in the B&I cup in the 2013-14 season.
