Director of Rugby, Ben Harvey has given seven players their
first competitive starts of the season for Jersey as the Director
of Rugby makes 11 changes to the line-up that beat Nottingham last
time out.
The all change Islanders also feature every Jersey born player
in their squad in the match day 22 for their opening match in this
season's British & Irish Cup versus Ayr (Kick Off 15:00
tomorrow).
Ed Dawson returns to fitness and takes his place on the wing,
whilst young Islander Jack Burroughs and James Copsey make up the
back three. Aaron Penberthy gets his chance again at outside-half
having impressed in the opening GKIPA Championship encounter
against Plymuth and will partner Jimmy Williams at half-back.
It's all change in the front five of the scrum as Tom Fidler,
Dave Felton, Nick Selway, Rob Anderson and Dave Markham are handed
their first competitive starts of the season - Fidler and Selway
capping their first full debut. James Voss returns to blindside
flanker after fully recovering from a stiff neck and at number 8
Tom Brown is given the captaincy with Alex Rae sitting on the
bench.
Harvey has selected a very strong replacements bench with Jersey
born tight-head prop Jon Brennan returning to fitness from his calf
injury and will be looking to make a big impact as a substitute.
Nick Campbell misses out on a rematch will his former teammates as
Ben Maidment makes the 22.
