Supporters urged to change match-day travel plans

24/01/2014

Jersey RFC is appealing to supporters to find alternative ways
of getting to this weekend's crucial match against Rotherham.

Recent wet weather has left the club with no option but to
suspend all car parking on outlying pitches, meaning that anyone
driving to St Peter and seeking to park their car will be obliged
to use car parks at the Airport and walk from there.

The club has today (Friday) confirmed a match-day park-and-ride
arrangement from Millbrook, with shuttle buses to the ground.
Supporters can park in Lay-by 7, on The Avenue between La Motte
Ford and the Burger Kiosk, and there will be free buses to the
ground, courtesy of Signature Coaches, at 1.15pm, 1.45pm and 2.15pm
ahead of the 3pm kick-off. Buses will return to the lay-by after
the match at 5pm and 5.30pm.

There are also a number of other options for supporters
travelling to St Peter:

"We're urging supporters to consider adjusting their normal
routines in order to avoid problems in the run-up to kick-off,"
stated Chairman Bill Dempsey. "We realise many people are in the
habit of driving to St Peter and parking on rugby club land, but
the ground is simply not able to withstand being driven on at
present.

"There are plenty of alternative means of getting to JRFC,
including the park-and-ride which we've worked hard to set up with
help from Transport & Technical Services, and we believe that
by planning ahead and allowing extra time to reach the club,
supporters will still be able to enjoy the match."

There will be a small amount of parking available at the club
for staff working on match-day; anyone with any queries should
contact Club Manager Sean Dunne.

Jersey's new Head Coach Harvey Biljon takes charge of the team
for the first time in the clash with Rotherham, currently ranked
second in the Greene King IPA Championship. The gates at St Peter
open at 12noon with kick-off at 3pm
