Super Saturday ahead at St Peter

24/02/2016

One of just two Championship teams who Jersey have never beaten, London Welsh, - will visit St Peter this weekend.

The two sides have met on three previous occasions, and the Exiles claimed a narrow 14-8 win in the last encounter at Old Deer Park in October.

Harvey Biljon's boys will be looking to extend their unbeaten run on home soil to seven matches and maintain their fifth place in the Greene King IPA Championship.

London Welsh have had a mixed season but achieved an important 22-18 win over Nottingham in their last outing to move up to ninth place in the table. Former Jersey players Ryan Hodson (pictured below) and Ryan Glynn are among those set to do battle against their former club.

There's set to be a large crowd at St Peter, with not one but two marquees and a tempting international contest to follow the live action.

After the final whistle in the Jersey v London Welsh game, which kicks off at the earlier time of 2pm, spectators are invited to stay around to catch the RBS 6 Nations game between England and Ireland, which kicks off at 4.50pm, on the big screens.

There are still a few spaces in the supporters marquee, where a two-course lunch is available for £22 - bookings can be made, subject to availability, up to 5pm on Friday by emailing Sean Dunne.

On the eve of the match it's the only Friday night game of this season's 6 Nations, and JRFC will be screening the Wales v France match live from Cardiff.

The Pavilion will be open from 6pm on Friday and kick-off is at 8.05pm, and there'll be food available. Whether you're siding with the Welsh visitors, or our French neighbours, we hope you'll come to St Peter to enjoy a great start to the weekend's rugby.

Jersey Athletic will also be in action on Saturday, with an away trip to Blackheath for a Zoo Shield match that pits the third- and fifth-ranked sides in the Shield table. Kick-off in south-east London is at 1pm, and the Athletic will be back in action on home turf on Saturday March 5th when they entertain Esher in a double-header match.
