The Reds produced a stunning opening to the 'Friday Knight Lights' encounter to leave their visitors from Doncaster shell-shocked.
The home side scored four tries in 22 minutes, skipper Jerry Sexton leading the way with a charge-down and then the backs weighing in: Leroy Van Dam, James Newey and Brett Herron all crossing. Herron added two conversions and a late penalty to make it 29-0 at the break.
After an error-strewn display in the first half, the visitors recovered their poise and were in the acsendancy for large parts of the second half, scoring tries of their own through Paul Jarvis and Charlie Foley to make it 29-14 with 10 minutes to play. But the home side rallied and a mauled try by Jack macfarlane was followed by Herron's second, before Rory Pitman had the last word with his side's third try.
With Bedford defeated at the death by Yorkshire Carnegie, the Reds move up to third place in the Greene King IPA Championship table with six games remaining.
