Qualifications, Experiences and Licenses:
- BSc Degree in Physiotherapy OR Sports Rehabilitation
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registered with the Health Professionals Council OR BASRAT
- Training in Pitch Side Emergency Care to PHICIS Level 3, or a willingness to complete this training at the next available opportunity
- A minimum of 3 years working as a full time Physiotherapist in elite sport
Desirable:
- 1-2 Years experience working in professional rugby union
- MSc – Sports Rehabilitation
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Excellent clinical skills including assessment and diagnosis of injury
- Excellent communications skills and ability to build rapport with various personality types
- Ability to manage a department and delegate workload to other staff
- Act as a role model in line with the expected elite behaviours of the Physical Performance Department
- The ability to challenge the remainder of the performance team in a healthy manner and strive to improve the environment on a daily basis
- Have strong experience in the return to play of both short and long-term injuries
- An ability to work under pressure and manage a high case-load
- An understanding of the physiological demands of Rugby Union
- A strong commitment to Continued Professional Development and develop the knowledge of others with the Performance Department.
Responsibilities:
- Play a key role in promoting an elite environment
- Injury management of first team players – predominantly short-term injuries and the reintegration of those players in to training
- Daily communication to both the Head of Performance and Coaching department regarding the training status of players
- Prescribe relevant injury prevention training to the first team squad
- Management of the daily monitoring system and addressing any red flags
- Pitchside cover for all training and games, inclusive of away travel
- Documentation of injuries and treatments in line with RFU guidelines
- Management of Medical department budget & physiotherapy equipment
- Prepare and complete RFU guided audit
- Management of Physiotherapist Department Including Senior physiotherapist and Interns
- Liaising with Jersey Rugby Club doctors for Matchday
- Up to date records for anti-doping organisations
- Organisation of medical appointments
- Maintain relationships with UK based Medical Professionals
