Two fired-up sides will take the field at the Athletic Ground this weekend looking to register their first win of the new Greene King IPA Championship season.
After narrow defeats on the road to Coventry and Bedford Blues at the start of September, the Reds have yet another away fixture after the enforced postponement of the home game against London Irish last weekend, and will be striving to improve their league standing. But this will be no easy task against a home side who have been narrowly defeated in all three of their league outings so far this season and will also be highly motivated to get their first win of 2018/19.
Reds' Head Coach Harvey Biljon has the rare luxury of being able to name an unchanged starting XV from his side's most recent outing at Bedford, with all his players ruled fit to play after a few knocks in that game.
The only change to the 22-man squad is among the forward replacements, with former London Scottish player Rory Bartle in line for his first competitive action of the new season as he comes in to cover the back row positions in place of Graham Geldenhuys. Prop Harry Morley, will be hoping to make his league debut for the Reds after being an unused replacement during the match against Bedford.
The Exiles could field up to three former Jersey players in their line-up: hooker Jared Saunders and prop Jordan Brodley were part of the Reds' squad last season, while fly-half Rory Jennings played two matches during a short loan spell from his parent club Bath in January 2016.
The two clubs arrived in the Championship one year apart, with London Scottish winning promotion from National 1 in 2011 and the Reds emulating this feat 12 months later. There have been 16 matches between them at this level, with 10 wins for the Reds; however if British & Irish Cup matches are discounted, the league tally stands at 6-6.
The Exiles will be seeking to avenge four defeats at Jersey hands last season, two in both the Championship and B&I, including a punishing scoreline at the RAG in March when the visitors ran in eight tries and won 19-52.
Two Jersey sides will be playing in London this weekend, with Jersey Reds Athletic travelling to Wimbledon for a Zoo Shield encounter that kicks off at 12.30pm.
