A group of 28 Jersey children took to the skies on a special
Christmas charter this week.
The children, all of whom are either current or former patients
at Robin Ward at Jersey General Hospital, including several
supported by local charity CLIC Sargent, were the guests of Flybe.
The regional airline stages an annual Christmas flight, and 2013
was Jersey's turn to take part.
Flybe is a sponsor of Jersey RFC and carries the players to away
fixtures around the UK, and so a number of players and officials
were along to help out on the day. These comprised Club Captain
Alex Rae, Chairman Bill Dempsey, Club Manager Sean Dunne and
players Luke Stratford, Latu Makaafi, James Voss, Fred Silcock and
Myles Landick.
Bill Dempsey said: "It was great to see these children and their
families experience something so special - their bravery is truly
remarkable and an inspiration to all of us."
