Jersey Reds have signed back-row player Alun Lawrence on loan from Welsh region Cardiff Rugby.
The 23-year-old, who is set to remain with the Reds for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign, is a graduate of Cardiff’s Academy section and has made a total of 23 senior appearances.
Born in Pontypridd, Lawrence captained Coleg Y Cymoedd to victory in the British Colleges Cup, the same year in which he won two Wales under-20 caps during the Six Nations.
Director of Rugby Harvey Biljon said: “Alun has been unlucky not to play more regularly for Cardiff as a result of the competition for back-row places there, which includes several internationals. This is a good opportunity for him to get game-time and to stand-out in what is also a competitive area for us.”
Lawrence will be in contention for this Saturday’s Championship game at Ampthill, after which the Reds will return to action on home turf when they entertain Richmond at Stade Santander International on Saturday January 29th (k-o 2pm).
