Jersey Reds have swooped to sign former Bristol wing Augustin 'Auguy' Slowik to bolster their back division.
The 23-year-old (pictured below courtesy Bristol Rugby/ JMPUK) spent three seasons at Bristol, scoring 19 tries from 28 games during this period and contributing to the title-winning campaign in the 2015/16 Greene King IPA Championship.
With limited opportunities following Bristol's arrival in the Aviva Premiership in 2016, Slowik left Ashton Gate last November and subsequently spent brief periods with Worcester Warriors and London Scottish. Most recently he has spent a spell in Australia and helped Sydney-based Northern Suburbs reach the final of the 2017 Shute Shield for clubs in New South Wales.
Slowik is expected to be among the party for this weekend's B&I Cup trip to south Wales, where the Reds will take on Dragons Premier Select, although having only arrived from Australia in mid-week, his duties are likely to be restricted to the role of travelling reserve/ 23rd man.
Head Coach Harvey Biljon said: "Auguy's a proven performer in the Championship who played a significant role for Bristol in winning promotion two seasons ago. He has great pace and try-scoring potential and after a change of scene in Australia in recent months he's hungry to re-establish himself on his return to Europe."
After returning from Wales on Sunday, the Reds will switch back into league mode and prepare to host Slowik's former club Bristol. Currently top of the Championship table following six straight wins to start the season, Bristol will run out at Stade Santander International to face the Reds on Saturday October 28th. The home club are seeking to repeat the success of previous encounters against league leaders Worcester Warriors and London Irish in recent seasons - both games attracted large crowds and resulted in a win for the home side.
