Jersey Reds have confirmed that lock forward Tom Everard has become the latest addition to the 1st XV squad and is in line to make his debut later this week.
The former Hartpury University second row, who recently completed a stint in Scotland with Ayrshire Bulls, winners of the semi-professional FOSROC Super 6 league, arrives in the wake of Zak Farrance’s departure for SU Agen in France.
Everard (24) was part of the London Irish set-up from 2014 to 2016 while still at school, and then spent a year in France with the Academy section at Stade Toulousain before enrolling on a degree course at Hartpury in 2017, featuring in both the Championship and Championship Cup over the next three seasons.
Director of Rugby Harvey Biljon said: “Tom joined us following Zak Farrance’s departure and has been impressive in training since he came on board, which has earned him an opportunity to be part of the squad travelling to Nottingham on Friday.”
Everard is the third player to have joined the Reds after featuring in the Super 6 in Scotland, which ran from July to October this year, following the signings of fly-half Tom Pittman from Boroughmuir Bears and prop Steve Longwell from league rivals Watsonians.
Currently lying second in the Championship rankings, the Reds will travel to Nottingham tomorrow to take on the Green-and-Whites under the Friday Night Lights at Lady Bay.
