Jersey Reds will start the 2019/20 season at home to Newcastle Falcons, who will play their first competitive match since relegation from the Gallagher Premiership at Stade Santander International on the weekend of 20-22 September.
The clash with the Falcons is one of three Championship Cup fixtures that will kick off the new campaign, which has a slightly delayed start due to the 2019 World Cup. The Reds then travel to Hartpury and Doncaster Knights, their other opponents in pool 2 of the cup.
The Greene King IPA Championship fixtures are also announced today; the season will start on the weekend of October 11-13, with Coventry travelling to the Island. The Reds will play their final game away to Cov on the second weekend of May 2020 - the opposite of last season, when fixtures between the two clubs also bookended the season, with the Midlanders winning at home in September, and at Stade Santander International in April.
The first away trip in the league will be to last season's runners-up, Ealing Trailfinders, on the weekend of October 18-20, followed by a home tie against Doncaster Knights and a league visit to Kingston Park, Newcastle, on the first weekend of November.
The final three rounds of the Championship Cup will be played in successive weekends from the end of November to mid-December, followed by a Christmas league fixture that sees the Reds at home to London Scottish.
Following some successful charter trips for the playing squad and supporters in recent seasons, the Reds intend to investigate the feasibility of similar trips for the away games at Newcastle in November and Cornish Pirates in April (the Easter weekend). Confirmation will be issued in due course.
All the fixtures are initially allocated to weekend slots and could be played on Friday evening, Saturday or Sunday. Exact dates and kick-off times will be confirmed in due course, and supporters are urged not to finalise their travel plans ahead of this detail being announced.
The Reds' schedule of pre-season games is expected to be finalised shortly and will then be publicised.
