JRFC confirm new loan signing for 1st XV
squad
There will be a new face on the field for Jersey Rugby Club this
weekend following the loan signing of Max Stelling from Worcester
Warriors.
Stelling, who represented England Clubs and Schools last season,
will be 19 in January and can play centre or full-back.
"I'm delighted to welcome a player of Max's ability to the
club," states Director of Rugby Ben Harvey. "I had very good
reports of him, and he impressed as soon as he got on the training
field after flying in."
Harvey confirmed that he intends to select Stelling for the
Jersey squad for this weekend's British & Irish Cup match
against Leinster 'A' at St Peter.
"I'm keen to see what Max can do in a match environment and how
he fits into the team, so it's my intention to involve him against
Leinster," added Harvey.
The initial loan deal is for one month, with the option to
extend the arrangement thereafter if all parties are happy.
Stelling, who is 1.91 metres tall and weighs 97 kilos, made his
senior debut for Worcester Warriors in the Amlin Challenge Cup in
October, scoring a hat-trick of tries after coming on as a
replacement against Spanish side Bizkaia Gernika.
A product of Old Swinford Hospital School in Stourbridge, West
Midlands, Stelling played for England Under 18 Clubs and Schools in
their victory over Ireland Under 18 Clubs in April.
