Jersey Reds are delighted to announce that His Excellency Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton has accepted an offer to become co-patron of the club. The Island's Lieutenant Governor joins Lord Jersey, who had previously been the club's sole patron for the past several years. The announcement was made to members and clients of the club's lead sponsor, Santander International, at a season launch event hosted by the sponsor at the club's home ground at St Peter today (Friday 28th July).
Club Chairman Mark Morgan said "We are thrilled that Sir Stephen has become our latest patron. He is a great fan of rugby, and a former university player, and also a big supporter of our community approach at the club, including our thriving Minis and Juniors section, amateur adult men's and women's sides and an abundance of volunteers across the club. And to cap all that, we have the Channel Islands only professional sports team."
Sir Stephen (pictured below with event host Cliff Chipperfield) was able to get an early look at the new squad at a trial match ahead of the club's three pre-season matches scheduled in August, followed by a 'meet-the-players' session.
As the build-up to the new season intensifies, August sees three pre-season matches for the Island side: away to RC Vannes on Saturday August 5th, at home to Coventry a week later, and then in London against Harlequins on Saturday August 19th. The Greene King IPA Championship season begins with the home game against Doncaster Knights on Saturday September 2nd. All the Reds' fixtures for the forthcoming season can now be found via THIS LINK
