Jersey Reds held on to win a pulsating game played at great pace and intensity throughout by both sides.
Outscoring the visitors by three tries to one, the home side certainly had opportunities to get the bonus point win in the second half, and yet at the end it was a stoic defensive display by the Reds that sealed the result.
Tom Pincus scored twice and Roy Godfrey once for the homeside, all in the first half as Jersey led by 19-10 at the break, and a single Pirates' penalty was the only score in the second period.
