A horribly tense finish for home fans saw the Reds cling on to narrowly win what had been a difficult and scrappy game throughout.
The Reds were the only side to register a try, through Buckle at the back of a lineout move in the first half, and all other points were from the boot.
Turning around in the lead at 11-6, many of the home faithful would have expected a more prolific 2nd half performance, but it wasn't to be. 35 minutes passed before Cope extended the lead, and Bedford got a penalty of their own almost immediately after the restart.
The conditions surely played a part with drizzle and a slippery ball as the game went on, resulting in handling errors on both sides.
At the end, the Blues were camped in scoreboard corner for most of the stoppage time. Scrums, tap and gos and lineouts; we had it all, and the Jersey defence held firm until the ball was finally spilled and the referee blew the final whistle.
