Jersey held on for a narrow victory to kick-start their season and register a sixth victory in their last eight league outings on home soil.
The Islanders out-scored the visiting Pirates by three tries to two, completing a third consecutive win by the same margin at St Peter after a 27-25 win in 2013/14 and a 28-26 success in April this year.
