The make-up of the pools for the 2014/15 British & Irish Cup
has been announced, with Jersey facing reigning champions Leinster
'A', Championship rivals Plymouth Albion and a Welsh qualifier in
pool 5.
A total of 20 teams (12 GKIPA Championship, four Irish and four
Welsh) will contest this season's B&I following confirmation
that the Scottish will not take part in 2014/15.
The tournament will feature all six pool games played before
Christmas in two blocks of three, with quarter finals in January,
semi-finals in March and the final scheduled for the Easter weekend
in early April.
The qualifying Welsh side, referred to as 'Wales 3', will start
the competition with a trip to Jersey on the weekend of October
10-12, after which the Islanders travel to Dublin. Exact match
dates and KO times are not yet confirmed, and it's possible there
may be departures from the conventional Saturday afternoon slot for
both home and away games. Confirmation of exact times will be
issued as soon as possible. Supporters should make allowances for
the potential range of kick-off times if they are seeking to make
travel arrangements before this confirmation is available.
