Back row forward Tom Brown has left Jersey for London after
signing for National One side Ealing Trailfinders.
Brown, 31, joined the Islanders in summer 2013 from Welsh
regional side the Dragons, and featured in 13 league matches for
Jersey, scoring five tries. His final appearance for Jersey was in
last month's Siam Cup fixture.
Chairman Bill Dempsey explained: "Tom was midway through a
two-year contract with Jersey, however an offer was made by Ealing,
who see him as a player who can help take them back to the
Championship. We agreed to release Tom from his contract, as we
felt that we had adequate cover in that area for the coming
season.
"We would like to thank Tom for his contribution during his time
in Jersey and wish him all the best for the future."
The majority of Jersey's 1st XV squad have now reported for duty
ahead of the 2014/15 season. The players are undergoing fitness
assessments this week before pre-season training begins in earnest
next week. The squad will then be building up to three pre-season
matches at St Peter in August, against Ayr (August 16th), Bath
(August 23rd) and Blackheath (August 30th). The league season in
the Greene King IPA Championship will commence in early September,
with fixtures expected to be confirmed later in June.
