Jersey finished the last of their pre-season trilogy with a good win against a stubborn and determined Blackheath side.
The Reds opened the scoring through Otto after only 3 minutes, but 'Club' bounced straight back to level the scores at 7 each just after the 10 minute mark.
Otto scored again and Penberthy added a third to make the half time score 19-7.
Blackheath battled well up front, and Jersey's forwards would have possibly expected to gain more of an upperhand as the game went on, but the visitors never gave up, and repelled the 'catch and drive' effort on numerous occasions.
Tries did come, but Blackheath maintained their presence throughout, and tested the Jersey defence for at times, prolonged periods.
As expected, Jersey used the full compliment of replacements from the bench, and everyone had a chance to stake their claim for a starting berth when the Championship season gets under way in a couple of weeks' time.
Earlier in the day Jersey Ladies went down by 0-43 against Blackheath ladies (from a level above), and Jersey Athletic recorded an excellent 32-21 bonus point win against Blackheath Heathens in their first Zoo Sports Shield match of the season.
