The Reds were given a stiff test by Ampthill in the second match of a trio of pre-season matches at St Peter.
Jersey scored early tries through Haining and Adair before Baker replied and then Jack Macfarlane added the home side's third try just before the break (21-5).
The visitors narrowed the gap to 21-17 with two tries, but then Nick Campbell and Ross Adair added two more tries for Jersey. One last score for Ampthill made it 35-22 at full-time.
