Jersey Director of Rugby Ben Harvey has announced his side for
the opening Greene King IPA Championship fixture against Plymouth
Albion this Sunday at Sandy Park, Exeter. (Kick Off 13:15,
live on Sky Sports, and BBC Radio Jersey).
The Islanders will feature
eight summer signings making their competitive debut for the Club,
including captain Alex Rae, in Sunday's double header at the home
of Exeter Chiefs.
Harvey has made only three
changes to the side that claimed victory over National One outfit
Coventry in their final pre-season fixture as the Cornishman looks
to pick up an opening day win in the town his professional playing
career began.
Jersey born tight-head prop
Jon Brennan is ruled out through injury and will miss the next 3-4
weeks with a small calf tear. Also out of contention is loose-head
Myles Landick, but apart from the two front rowers Harvey has had a
clean bill of health to choose from and is excited by the challenge
ahead.
Harvey said: "The boys are a
good bunch who have a great work ethic and are prepared to work
very hard to get results. We've got a good team this year and our
pre-season preparations have helped bring us all together. We are
raring to go for Sunday.
"Plymouth will be our first
league game and I think that being on Sky Sports will only make
both sets of players more determined to look for a win. Everyone
just has to take care of their own job and the scoreboard will take
care of itself."
