Just 24-hours after the club secured its place in the 2014/15
Greene King IPA Championship final, Bristol Rugby's Charlie
Amesbury is named April's Player of the Month.
Amesbury scored four tries in April, with two against Jersey and
one versus promotion contenders Worcester Warriors, capping a
superb four weeks for the winger, who turned 29 in the same
month.
Having joined Bristol from Sale Sharks ahead of the 2013/14
campaign, the former England Sevens international has featured 13
times for the west country side in all competitions this season,
including Sunday's semi-final win over Rotherham Titans.
Commenting on the announcement, the winger said:
"I'm delighted to have been voted Player of the Month and I'd like
to thank everybody who took the time to cast a vote. April was a
good month for me personally, and also for Bristol Rugby. We're
working hard as a group and now all our efforts are focused on
the first leg of the final against Worcester on May 20."
Worcester's Chris Pennell was narrowly pipped to the post by
Amesbury, who won by just 33 votes. Sean Scanlon of Rotherham
Titans came in third.
April's award is the final of the 2014/15 campaign, with the
Greene King IPA Championship final set to take place on May 20
& 27.
Everybody who voted for a Player of the Month this season was
automatically entered into a free prize draw to win a day at
Twickenham for them and up to nine friends. The winner will be
contacted in due course.
