JRFC has arranged additional match-day car parking at St Peter for the game against Dragons Select on Saturday January 16th.
In addition to approximately 160 spaces on the area formerly occupied by Pitch 3 at St Peter, up to 70 additional spaces will be available adjacent to Jersey Airport on the former DHL cargo site.
Once the parking at JRFC is full, traffic will be diverted to the overflow area - this can be reached by driving towards the Airport from JRFC, turning left at the roundabout onto Route de la Commune and then looking for the signs on the right after approximately 100 metres, opposite the Mermaid Tavern. See the orange box on the map below. This facility is approximately 7-8 minutes walk from JRFC, and will be supervised by JRFC and G4S staff.
Parking will be available from 11.30am - spectators must note that all vehicles must be removed by 6pm, at which stage the gates to this area will be locked and there will be no access until Monday at the earliest.
Those who do wish to drive and park at the club or the overflow facility should allow extra time for their journeys. Spectators are urged to consider other options for getting to the match, whether this involves walking, cycling, getting a lift, travelling by taxi or using the many Liberty Bus services on routes 9 and 15.
"It's been a wet start to 2016 and this means we are still unable to use pitch 2 at St Peter" said Club Chairman Bill Dempsey. "However the additional space kindly provided through our contacts at the Airport will compensate."
The latest forecast for Saturday (at 1830 on Friday) is for a dry, mainly fairday with sunny periods, light northerly winds and a maximum of 7c. Warm clothing may be required, but conditions promise to be considerably more spectator-friendly than for the Doncaster Knights game on January 2nd. The club will be open from 12noon, with kick-off at 2.30pm.
