A tough day at the office for Jersey Reds against high-flying Ealing Trailfinders.
Ealing Trailfinders scored a converted try early in the first half, before Brendan Cope reduced the arrears soon after to leave the contest evenly poised at 7-3, and that was how it was for the majority of the first period. Ealing, through Miles Mantella managed to cross with the last play of the half, thus giving them a crucial upperhand at the break.
A bruising encounter saw Jersey have to reshuffle their line-up throughout the second half with a number of injuries, that even saw Roy Godfrey (loosehead prop) in the centres at one point.
The hosts bossed periods of play against a stubborn Jersey defence, and it was only in the 78th minute that they got their bonus point try; a telling score in the same way that their second had been at the end of the first half.
Tom Pincus scored a late consolation try with the last play of the game to make the final score 31-8.
