Tomorrow will be Jersey's second and final
pre-season friendly match before the start of the Greene King IPA
Championship in only a few weeks as they battle with old rivals
Coventry RFC at St. Peter (KO 4pm).
There are three changes to the Jersey
starting line-up, including Tom Cooper having impressed from the
bench last time out, Mark McCrea returning from injury and a first
start for tight-head prop Dave Young. Newly signed prop Nick Selway
will feature immediately in the Jersey squad as he takes his place
as a replacement with another four summer signings also named in a
strong substitutes bench.
After last Saturday's defeat to Aviva
Premiership Champions Leicester Tigers, Jersey' front-row forwards
Jon Brennan and Tom Fidler will miss the match through injury as
does fellow injured loose-head Myles Landick.
Captain Alex Rae will again lead the side
out for only the second time against his home town Club, Coventry.
Rae said: "I'm really looking forward to the match, it always means
a lot to play against your home town club, but it is a vital match
in our preparations for the league campaign.
"It was disappointing to loose heavily to
Tigers, but I think we learnt a lot and gave a decent account of
ourselves in our first match together as a new unit. The group have
trained hard all week and we are looking to grasp our first win of
the season."
