Jersey secure their first win on Cornish soil and another vital 4 points as the Reds keep the pressure on in their quest for a top 4 finish.
A 0-0 half-time score reflected the intensity of the game. Both sides had had an opportunity with scrums on the opposition 5m. Jersey were first to lose out as the Pirates hooked the ball against the head. And then as the half entered the final moments, the Reds endured two penalties and two scrums before winning a penalty of their own to relieve the pressure.
The Reds converted try came from Sean McCarthy, with Callum Sheedy adding the crucial extras, after repeated pick and gos.
The Pirates score by winger Kyle Moyle came on the break following a kick ahead, but the conversion went wide.
