Fly-half Brendan Cope will be heading back to Jersey this summer after agreeing to rejoin the Reds.
Cope spent three seasons on the Island before leaving 12 months ago to join Yorkshire Carnegie. His 2018/19 season has been marred by a serious injury sustained when he returned to Jersey with his new club in late September, but he has now recovered and will be back in the fold when pre-season training starts in June.
Cope, who will be 25 in May, played approximately 70 games for the Reds between 2015 and 2018, amassing almost 500 points during this time. He previously played in his native South Africa for the Sharks at under 19 and under 21 levels, as well as for Durban Collegians.
Director of rugby Harvey Biljon said he was looking forward to working with Cope again.
"We were disappointed to lose Brendan this time last year, and we know he'll be eager to make up for lost time when we get together in June," he said. "He's a talented player, including both the attacking and defensive sides of the game, as well as his ability as a kicker, and will be a real asset to us once again next season."
As news of Cope's return was finalised, the Reds were also able to confirm that prop Sam Rodman will leave the Island in May having agreed to join Cornish Pirates. Rodman spent a year with the Reds after joining from Ealing Trailfinders and has been a regular part of the match-day squad.
The Reds will complete their Greene King IPA Championship season this Saturday, when Coventry are the visitors to Stade Santander International (kick-off 3pm). The two clubs will also contest a 2nd team fixture at 12noon, and a large crowd is expected. Advance tickets (which are £4 cheaper if ordered by 3pm Thursday) are available HERE
