It may fall between Black Friday and Advent Sunday, but Jersey's match against Rotherham offers no guarantees; there'll be few giveaways, on the pitch at least, from the Yorkshire hosts, while divine inspiration for the visitors in 'God's own county' may only be available on a 'bring-your-own' basis.
Resuming action in the Greene King IPA Championship after a two-week Cup break, Jersey will be looking to cut back a six-point deficit over the home side, who lie fourth in the league table, four places ahead of their opponents.
The Islanders' most recent league game was the 5-20 win at London Scottish in early November, but since making that impressive statement Jersey have been disappointed with their British & Irish Cup results, which comprised a home draw against Doncaster (22-22) and an agonising last-gasp defeat in Wales last Sunday against the Dragons Select XV (30-27).
Head Coach Harvey Biljon has recalled a number of players who missed the trip to Wales; the Jersey back-line is the same unit utilised at London Scottish, with Aaron Penberthy reverting to the full-back position.
Six of the forwards selected to face Rotherham were in the starting line-up against the Exiles, the exceptions being tight-head prop Oli Tomaszczyk and lock Will Rowlands, both of whom will make first league starts for their new club. Rowlands' partner in the second row is Pierce Phillips, who skippered the side against Dragons and was Jersey's stand-out player.
Jersey have won just one of their six previous Championship encounters with the Titans, the 13-10 victory at St Peter in January 2013, while the last meeting at Clifton Lane was the 20-all draw in February this year.
Following the trip to Yorkshire, Jersey's next match will be the league clash with old rivals Ealing Trailfinders under the Friday night lights at St Peter on December 4th (k-o 7.45pm).
