Jersey full-back Tommy Bell is leaving the club this week after
signing for Aviva Premiership side Leicester Tigers.
Bell (pictured below) joined Jersey in the summer and has
shown impressive form in the opening weeks of the Greene King IPA
Championship campaign, earning a place on the short-list for the
September Player of the Month award.
Jersey RFC Chairman Bill Dempsey said the club had agreed to
honour a clause in Bell's contract which allowed him to consider
any interest from a Premiership club.
"We are very sorry to lose Tommy, he has been one of our stand-out
players," Dempsey said. "I think we knew that he would probably end
up leaving Jersey and returning to the Premiership, although we
hoped this wouldn't have been until the end of this season.
"Having said that, Tommy's form has shown he is definitely capable
of playing at the top level of the domestic game and we have no
wish to stand in the way of his ambitions - we'd like to thank him
for the contribution he's made since coming to Jersey in June, and
wish him all the best for the future."
