After four weeks without a match, Jersey Reds Athletic are starting the New Year with a bang. The Athletic have back-to-back home games in the Zoo Shield which they'll be looking to use as a platform to improve their league standing.
Although Mylo's boys are currently in seventh place in the Zoo Division One, the Athletic are within six points of third-placed Barnes and have games in hand on most of the teams above them.
First up for 2017 will be Old Elthamians this Saturday, January 7th. Kick-off at the 'Stade Athletic' (formerly known as pitch 2 at St Peter) is at 12noon and although their won't be a lunch for this match, the marquee and Barclays Pavilion will be both be open before kick-off and after the final whistle (the Clubhouse is closed ahead of a private function). We'll be showing the Aviva Premiership 'Match of the Day' in the Pavilion - Exeter Chiefs v Saracens is live on BT Sport at 3pm.
The following Saturday - January 14th, Athletic will host Esher Cardinals. This is another 12noon kick-off, and will be followed by lunch in the Clubhouse from 2.30pm. Places are available at just £15 per head - book with Sean Dunne by email or call 499929. It's a European rugby weekend, and the Wasps v Toulouse Champions Cup game is live from 3.15pm.
