STOP PRESS March 23rd: The new date for this fixture will be Saturday April 8th, k-o 1pm - the earlier time has been arranged in order to allow the visiting squad to return home that day via an early-evening flight. All tickets purchased for the original date remain valid.
Jersey Reds game against Doncaster Knights on Saturday was called off on Friday morning following a pitch inspection as a result of adverse weather in the north of England and the forecast of below-zero temperatures on the morning of the game.
No new date has been confirmed for the game: the two clubs will work together on this in conjunction with the relevant officials from the RFU.
The match had been an eagerly-awaited one, with the Reds travelling to a ground where they haven’t won for four-and-a-half years and which has been something of a fortress recently, with Doncaster Knights having won nine of their 10 competitive games on home turf so far this season.
The Yorkshire club’s squad would also have been motivated to gain revenge for an agonising defeat at Jersey hands last October, when a last-kick conversion went wide to leave the home side winners by 19-17.
The Reds, who had anticipated fielding an unchanged starting XV for the first time this season, are now set to complete their Championship schedule with four home games in a 43-day spell; this also includes three more away games, at Richmond, Bedford and the re-arranged trip to Castle Park.
The first home game will see Hartpury University visit the Island for a game that kicks off at 2pm on Saturday March 18th at Stade Santander International.
