With two more games remaining in their 2020/21 league season, Jersey Reds have moved to bolster their forward resources through the loan signing of Bath prop Will Vaughan.
Vaughan, who will be 23 in early June, comes in following a raft of front row injuries during a short but attritional Greene King IPA Championship season.
Having featured in the Bath Rugby set-up since the age of 14, Vaughan gained some National League experience with Clifton while still a teenager and made his Premiership debut for Bath aged 20, scoring a try against London Irish in May 2018.
Since his debut Vaughan has had limited opportunities as part of a squad featuring England international props Beno Obano, Will Stuart and Henry Thomas, and prior to the Covid-19 interruption spent a short period on loan with Yorkshire Carnegie.
Director of Rugby Harvey Biljon said: "We're pleased to be able to bring in a player of Will's calibre from a top-flight club. He's a young prop with plenty of potential and I'd expect he will benefit from a short-term change of environment and the chance to play some competitive rugby."
Vaughan is likely to come straight into the match-day squad for this weekend’s trip to Hartpury, with the Reds keen to bounce back after a disappointing home loss to Coventry last Saturday.
All of the Reds’ games this season can be watched via live streaming broadcasts which can be booked via the Championship website at the cost of £10 per match. Tickets are also available for the final game of the season at home to Cornish Pirates via www.jr.lnk.je/tickets – and must be bought in advance.
