Jersey Reds have moved to reinforce their back-line by signing two players from the Dragons in Wales.
Arwel Robson and Connor Edwards have agreed short-term loan deals to move to Jersey from south Wales, and both could feature in this Saturday’s match against Bedford Blues, subject to meeting registration requirements in time.
The two players, both 22-years-old and former Wales under 20 internationals, have been involved in the Dragons set-up for several seasons and played for the Dragons Development side in the British & Irish Cup against the Reds in 2015/16 before going on to represent the region in the Guinness PRO14 and European Challenge Cups.
Robson, born in Caerphilly (pictured top), is a fly-half with 22 senior appearances for the Dragons who has also played for Newport. He scored a dramatic winning try against the Reds in the 30-27 B&I Cup tie at Pandy Park in Cross Keys in November 2015
Cwmbran-born Edwards (pictured above) has made 12 senior appearances for the Dragons and has also played for Bedwas and Cross Keys, as well as in the Championship for Hartpury while on loan. He played his early mini and junior rugby with his local side in Croesyceiliog.
Jersey Reds Director of Rugby Harvey Biljon said: “Both Arwel and Connor are really promising young players who have been on my radar for a while. I’m really pleased to be bringing them to Jersey ahead of a critical phase of our season.”
After this weekend’s trip to Bedford, the Reds will be focusing on their next commitment on home turf, when Ealing Trailfinders visit Stade Santander International on Saturday February 8th - kick-off will be at 2pm.
