A new concession rate for students and revised car parking
arrangements will be in operation at St Peter this weekend for the
Jersey v Newcastle game.
Following discussions by the Executive Committee, it has been
decided that the 'junior' rate of £3 for 13- to
16-year-olds will also apply to students who are in full-time
education.
'We discussed pricing after a number of people pointed out that
the full adult price of £15 was a large sum for most students, and
consequently the £3 rate will apply with immediate effect,' states
Chairman Bill Dempsey. 'We hope this will encourage our student
supporters, whether they are sixth-formers or university students
who are back on the Island, to come up and support the Jersey
team.'
Dempsey added that he was aware that a small number of students
had already purchased adult season tickets for the season, but that
he believed it was in the wider interest to make Jersey's games
available for all students.
The new rate applies until the end of 2012/13, and will be
conditional on presentation of appropriate full-time student
identification at the match-day ticket offices.
Recent wet weather has forced the club to make alternative
arrangements for match-day parking. There will be no parking on
pitch 3, which is accessed from the Airport Road adjacent to Jersey
Bowl. All parking will be on pitch 6, which is accessed from Rue du
Saut Falluet, which in turn is accessed off Rue des Landes.
All spectators are urged to allow extra time for their journey
to the club, and consider other means of travel, such as bus
(routes 9 or 15), taxi or lifts in order to reach St Peter.
Car parking for future matches will be reviewed and publicised
on a game-by-game basis.
A large crowd is expected for the visit of the league leaders.
Advance ticket purchase is recommended - tickets can be obtained
from Red Properties in St Helier or the JEP offices at Five Oaks
until Friday at 5pm, at the Rugby Club on Friday 10am- 1pm or 5.30-
7.30pm, or on the gate from 12noon on Saturday.
