Jersey have added forwards Nick Campbell and
Dave Young to the squad ahead of the 2013/14
season.
23-year-old Campbell will join the Island side from Glasgow
Warriors at the end of the current season.
The 6ft 7ins lock (above) made his Warriors debut against Ulster
at Ravenhill in September 2011 and later that month scored his only
try for the club in a win over Leinster in Dublin. The former elite
development player made eight appearances in the RaboDirect Pro 12
and came off the bench in the narrow 10-8 loss away to Castres in
the Heineken Cup this season.
Young, 28 (below), is a prop forward who has played in both
England and Scotland, representing Leicester, Gloucester, Edinburgh
and Leeds earlier in his career. He has been based in Italy for the
2012/13 campaign, playing for Lazio Rugby 1927 in the 'Eccellenza'
league that represents the top level of Italian domestic rugby.
"Nick and Dave are quality operators with Pro 12 and Premiership
experience, and I expect both to make a significant impact once the
Jersey side get back onto the field for pre-season games in
August," said Director of Rugby Ben Harvey.
"We've learned through experience what a tough league the
Championship is, and adding both talent and strength-in-depth to
the squad is a primary aim ahead of our second season at this
level."
Harvey has also been busy securing the services of a significant
proportion of his existing squad for next season in the
Championship, with a further announcement regarding personnel for
2013/14 expected before the end of April.
