The departures of a number of members of the current Jersey RFC
1st XV squad have been confirmed. The following players will be
leaving the squad after this weekend's Ipes Siam Cup: Ben Maidment,
David Bishop, Drew Locke, Gareth Harris, Grant Pointer, Harry
Williams, Jonny Bentley, Mark Foster, Mick Noone, Myles Landick,
Paula Kaho, Ryan Glynn, Ryan Hodson and Tobias Hoskins.
"These players won't be with us next season for a number of
reasons," said Head Coach Harvey Biljon. "Some are giving up
professional rugby, a number have confirmed new deals elsewhere and
others have yet to finalise their plans, but each and every one of
them has played a part in what we have achieved. I'm very grateful
for their contributions, and hope they'll be given a warm send-off
at the Siam Cup."
Biljon has been finalising his 2015/16 squad, with a number of
new signings announced. Further announcements are expected
shortly.
This Saturday's Ipes Siam Cup marks the final game of the season
for Jersey and their Channel Island rivals Guernsey, who will be
competing for the historic trophy for the 75th time. The 1st XV
match kicks off at 3pm and will be preceded by matches between the
respective Veterans, 2nd XV and Ladies teams. Superman actor Henry
Cavill will be a special guest at St Peter in his role of
Ambassador for Durrell Wildlife Trust, which will be the
beneficiary of a number of fund-raising events on the day.
Tickets for Saturday's event are available in advance from the
JT Rewards website, and on the day. Admission is £10 for
non-members, £5 for members and free for Under 18s.
