One of Jersey's most loyal and best-loved supporters died this
week. Peter 'Bunny' Le Saux passed away on Monday a few weeks
before his 82nd birthday.
Bunny Le Saux, along with his daughter Sandy and son Alan, were
regular features on the touchline at Jersey games on the mainland
for many years, following the Island side as the club rose up the
leagues. Even though their Southampton home wasn't exactly in the
centre of England, they would travel for as long as it took to
reach National League and Championship destinations as far afield
as Newcastle and Penzance.

Siam Cup
A former rugby player for his native Island, Bunny played in the
Siam Cup in the late 1940s and it's believed at the time he was the
youngest player to do so. He celebrated his 80th birthday with a
trip to Jersey for the 2013 Siam, and was due to travel over with
his family for next week's game.
"He travelled the length and breadth of England to support
Jersey," said Chairman Bill Dempsey. "Even when the weather was
bad, and more recently when his health had deteriorated, he would
be there at the ground waiting to meet the coach when the players
arrived.
"Bunny's enthusiasm for the game was obvious and infectious, and
he always enjoyed some banter with the players and fellow
supporters. It's sad to think we won't see his smiling face on the
touchline for our games in future and I know everyone at the club
will join me in expressing condolences to Sandy, Alan and the rest
of the family."

There are plans for a minute's applause prior to this weekend's
game against Moseley at St Peter, and Dempsey also revealed plans
to pay tribute to Bunny by naming the club's new Player of the Year
award in his honour. Supporters have their last chance to vote for
the award at Saturday's game and the Bunny Le Saux Supporters'
Player of the Year Trophy will be presented at the end-of-season
awards evening on Saturday.
