Jersey head to Devon seeking a second win in three games in this
season's British & Irish Cup.
Brickfields in Plymouth has been a happy hunting ground for the
Islanders, with wins in both meetings there against Plymouth Albion
in the Greene King IPA Championship. But Jersey know the hosts will
be striving hard for the win that could kick-start their B&I
Cup campaign after defeats against Leinster 'A' and Carmarthen.
Jersey currently lie second in pool 5 of the B&I, with five
points, three behind leaders - and Cup holders - Leinster 'A'.
Head Coach Harvey Biljon has made a number of changes to his
squad, particularly in the backs, where Grant Pointer (pictured
below), who moves from wing to full-back, is the only player
who started last Friday's match against Leinster 'A' in Dublin.
Jersey's starting pack is a more settled unit, with three
changes from the 26-6 defeat at Donnybrook: Gareth Harris comes in
at hooker in place of Martin Garcia-Veiga, while in the back row
captain Alex Rae is selected at blind-side flanker while Joe Buckle
will be on the opposite side of the scrum.
This weekend is the third and final round of the first phase of
this season's B&I Cup, which will resume in five weeks' time
when Plymouth make the return trip to Jersey on Friday November
28th. The game will be the second on the Island in three weeks for
Albion, who will also contest a league match at St Peter on
Saturday November 8th when the Greene King IPA Championship
resumes.
