The 88 players who will represent Jersey RFC against their oldest rivals this weekend have been named.
The Reds will take on Guernsey Raiders at 1st XV level for the Ipes Siam Cup, as well as contesting the Fallaize Cup for 2nd XVs, Nash Cup (Veterans) and Ladies Siam.
Prop Sean McCarthy, who made his Siam Cup debut at St Peter in 2013, will captain the Jersey 1st XV, who will be seeking to maintain a recent winning run in the Siam stretching back to 2009. McCarthy is part of a starting line-up that includes three Siam debuts: prop Chris Pople, lock Ed Howgate and centre Will Falle.
Partnering Falle in midfield will be Donovan Sanders, making a return to Jersey colours after training with the Jersey Athletic squad in recent weeks.
Four more players are set to make their Siam debuts off the bench: prop Jacob Carter, flanker and Jersey Athletic captain Stephen de Ste Croix, half-back Alex Jeffery and threequarter Jonny Glendening.
The rivals Islands agreed new eligibility rules for this season's Siam to combat the three-level gap between where the two 1st XVs play. Those professional players selected by Jersey must have played for the club for a minimum of three seasons.
Jersey 2nd XV (Fallaize Cup, 12.30pm), also include some Siam Cup experience in the shape of number 8 Charlie Clyde-Smith and centre Ashley Maggs, plus a number of Colts players who suffered an agonising 15-12 defeat in the Junior Siam last weekend.
After breaking a lengthy losing streak at Footes Lane two years ago, Jersey Wanderers will be looking to make it three wins in a row in the Nash Cup match that opens the day's rugby at 10am. The Ladies teams will kick-off at 11.30am in their third competitive encounter of the season, Guernsey having claimed a win double in their encounters in Women's National Championship South East South 1.
The Reds will be invading Guernsey en masse, with the entire party of players, officials and supporters travelling back together on the evening ferry, hoping to have some silverware as part of their hand luggage.
A pre-Siam Cup evening will take place at Jersey RFC on Friday night. Supporters are invited to watch the final training session, the so-called Captain's Run, for the Siam Cup squad on pitch 1, at 6pm after which Siam Cup ties will be presented at 7pm. The clubhouse bar will be open from 5.30- 8pm, with free nibbles and there will also be a chance to pick up bargain offers from the club shop, which is having a total clearance sale ahead of the arrival of new lines in the summer.
