Jersey RFC have confirmed a quintet of new signings who will arrive at St Peter for the 2016/17 season.
Prop Mark Tampin, back row forward Max Argyle and centre Jordan Davies will move to the Island from Rotherham Titans at the end of the current campaign; centre George Eastwell, currently at Loughborough Students, has also agreed terms with Jersey, as has prop Jake Armstrong, who will be leaving Doncaster Knights next month to move south.
Born in Kingston-on-Thames, 24-year-old Tampin has played for Rotherham for the last three seasons, amassing more than 80 appearances. He was previously with Leeds Carnegie for three years, during which time he featured as a dual-registered player in the National Leagues with Wharfedale, with whom he travelled to Jersey in October 2011, and Harrogate.
Argyle, 23, played his first senior rugby for his home town club, Derby, and then for Sheffield Tigers before joining Rotherham in 2013. He has played around 40 matches for the Titans and also been dual-registered with Hull and Hull Ionians in the National Leagues.
Former England Under 18 international Davies, 26, played for Sale Sharks in rugby union's Aviva Premiership, and for Salford City Reds in Super League (rugby league) before moving to Rotherham in the latter stages of the 2013/14 season, since when he has made almost 50 appearances.
Eastwell, 22, is completing a Management Science degree at Loughborough University and has played around 70 games in National One for Loughborough Students. Last season, he played for Henley in National Two South and was also a member of the Wasps Academy, making a 1st team appearance in the LV Cup.
22-year-old Armstrong has played the majority of his senior rugby for clubs in his native Yorkshire, firstly with Otley and Leeds Carnegie, and then starting all 30 league games for Wharfedale in the 2014/15 National League One campaign. He joined Doncaster in summer 2015 - his most recent appearance for the Knights was the Greene King IPA Championship match against Bristol on Easter Sunday. He also featured in the B&I Cup match against Jersey at St Peter last November.
