Jersey battled well and will probably consider themselves a bit unlucky not to have secured the bonus point try against a plucky Dragons Select side.
Leading 17-6 at half time with a Penberthy penalty to cancel out the Dragons first penalty, followed by a converted catch and drive maul by Uili Kolo'ofa'i and another converted penalty try also from a catch and drive, the Reds were looking good.
One more converted try early in the second period by Tom Howe following some slick hands and a cute crossfield kick by fellow winger Rich Lane was the only further score by the Reds, who defended stoically throughout, even when reduced at one point to 14 men.
The Dragons couldn't break the Jersey defence down, and finished with only 2 penalties to show for their efforts in each half.
