At the start of the month that will see the kick-off to the 2015 Rugby World Cup, a documentary film about the 2003 tournament is coming to Jersey.
'Building Jerusalem' will be shown at Cineworld on the Waterfront in St Helier - it is a one-off screening on Tuesday September 1st at 7pm, followed by a live broadcast of a Q&A session taking place in London and featuring the three starts of the show.
Here's a bit of 'scene-setting' to whet your appetites:
After six weeks of gruelling competition, England are battling against reigning champions Australia in their Sydney backyard. The two teams are inseparable after 80 minutes; the game drags deep into extra time, until there are just two minutes are left on the clock.
England rumble to within 40 yards of the post. The ball is sent spiralling back to Jonny Wilkinson, the golden boy of English rugby. In a split second he drop kicks for goal and a chance for sporting immortality…
From the producer of 'Senna' and the Oscar-winning ‘Man on Wire’, Victoria Gregory, and Emmy-nominated Director, James Erskine, 'Building Jerusalem' combines scintillating match action, extraordinary original interviews with the key players including Jonny Wilkinson, Clive Woodward, Martin Johnson and Matt Dawson, with never-before-seen footage from the match and behind-the-scenes.
It is an astonishing story of pressure, expectation and courage, tracing the roots of success back to the professionalisation of the game in the 90s, culminating in the 2003 campaign that turned Woodward’s poisoned chalice into a golden cup.
