Head Coach Harvey Biljon has selected his Jersey squad to take on the Scarlets this weekend.
The pre-season match is sponsored by CPA Global, the world's leading provider of IP Solutions, and will be the first time that Jersey have taken on a team playing in the Guinness Pro 12 (formerly known as the Celtic League).
Four players will make their first appearances of the new season after missing last Saturday's 43-15 win over Plymouth Albion. Aaron Penberthy starts at fly-half, while Fautua Otto is selected at outside centre. In the pack, props Sam Lockwood and Ben Featherstone will start, the latter making his Jersey debut.
Three other players are set to see their first action of the new campaign as replacements: prop Danny Herriott and two new signings in the three-quarters, Mark Cooke and Rhys Owen.
Biljon is seeking to give game-time to every available member of his 36-man squad during the trio of pre-season matches - Jersey also host Blackheath on August 22nd - prior to the start of the Greene King IPA Championship. The Islanders travel to Leeds to take on Yorkshire Carnegie on Sunday September 6th.
The Scarlets are one of four Welsh sides playing in the Pro 12 alongside the leading teams from Ireland, Scotland and Italy.
Based in Llanelli, one of the most famous rugby towns in the world, the Scarlets region represents the whole of west and north Wales; the current squad includes a host of Welsh internationals who are preparing for the 2015 Rugby World Cup, but the Welsh side will nevertheless boast considerable Pro 12 experience.
Llanelli RFC played their first match in 1876 and some of the biggest names in Welsh rugby such as Ken Jones, Delme Thomas, Ray Gravell, Phil Bennett and Derek Quinnell represented the club in the 1960s and 70s. More recently, the famous scarlet jersey was worn by players such as Jonathan Davies, Stephen Jones and George North. The Scarlets region was formed officially in 2003 and in 2008 the team made the move to their 15,000-capacity home ground Parc y Scarlets.
The Scarlets finished sixth in the Pro 12 last season to ensure qualification for the 2015/16 European Challenge Cup.
Prior to the professional era, Llanelli played Jersey twice in tour matches at St Peter, winning 0-25 at St Peter in April 1970, and 31-40 in May 1981.
Saturday's match at St Peter kicks off at 4pm, with the gates open from 1pm. Admission for all adult spectators (including JRFC members) is £10, student tickets are £5 with under 18s free.
After playing in blue against Plymouth last weekend, Jersey will revert to their home red shirts this weekend, with their opponents donning a yellow/orange change strip.
